Lyon and its gastronomy

Lyon is located in south-east France, bordered on the east by the Alps, and on the west by the Massif Central. Two rivers meet at Lyon, the Rhône and the Saône. The junction of the two rivers gives Lyon the name "Presqu’ile" which is the heart of life in Lyon. Restaurants, shops, theaters, opera, banks, and coffeeshops are concentrated in this area, where walking from square to square is very pleasant (Bellecour, Jacobins, Celestins, Republique, Terreaux). On the right side of the Saône River, is "Quartier St Jean", refering to the Renaissance period by the architecture and layout of the Fourviere hill, consisting of pedestrian streets, "bouchons lyonnais", markets, muppets (Guignol), and shops in the most classic side of Lyon. More information can be found on the city’s portal.
